Be our Guest!

Friday, June 27, 2014 |

Welcome!  Or as they say out here in the country, "Howdy, won't ya take your boots off and sit a spell?"  Here's the room you'll be staying in.

Actually, I'm not totally sure that whole "boot" and "sitting a spell" thing is actually what they say.  You see, I'm a city gal transplanted to the country.  And so I kind of make this stuff up as I go along.
I guess if you'll be staying with us, you probably want to know a little about us so that you're comfortable we're "normal".  Since we're being honest, I'll tell you "normal" could be a stretch, but even if you were to decide we are FAR from normal, we're completely harmless, for sure.

Now that that is settled, here's a few more pics of your "quarters".  This post contains some affiliate links.  Please read my full disclosure policy located on the sidebar.heathered nest guest room, heathered nest modern country bedroom, heathered nest be our guest, urban country design, modern country design, barnboard ceiling, toile, burlap, sisal rug

My husband Dave and I bought this home about an hour outside DC last year, and we've spent the past year attempting to make it into our rural retreat from our formerly urban and way-too-fast-paced-life.

We met in college...this is then...and the first picture we have of the two of us together.  This was right before I got kicked out of the football stadium for concealing an airplane bottle of Jim Beam...for a friend:
And this is now.  I know, we've aged well...
Don't anyone try and steal my look.  I'm considering some sort of copyright, patent, I don't know, whatever.  Interestingly enough, THIS was your guest room BEFORE.  We'll title this picture "Of Mice and Mold" since that was what your room was infested with prior to some serious work.  Don't worry, it's perfectly fine now...pinky sware.

So come on in and sit a spell...

But don't stay too long, or we'll put you to work!  We've got pigs to slop! (or maybe those are kids to feed).

If you'd like a comforter like ours...here's the link!  Where'd I get the curtains?  Well, I made them from this Waverly fabric.  How 'bout that chandelier?  Here's the scoop.

    1. Hi there. The barnboard literally came off the side of a barn. We work with a wonderful guy who is local to the DC area who sells reclaimed wood. If you're in the area and would like contact information, I'm happy to pass it along!

    2. Thank you for your reply. I hope I don't sound like a stalker, but I am obssessed with that cow picture. LOL! I looked at her website (she has great stuff!), but didn't see this exact picture there. Can you tell me if it's a print or an original? And does it have a number? (Her artwork seems to all have numbers associated with them.) Thank you so much, and I promise to give it a rest. HAHA!!!

  60. What paint color did you use on the wall? We can't tell if it is a light blue or a light grey? Any chance you could tell us the exact color? I am so bad at picking wall colors as I don't have an eye for it.
